A daily devotional written to encourage followers of Jesus to walk with Him daily. When Jesus challenges us, “If you love me, obey my commands.” I believe he is looking for a paradigm change to occur within each of us. What may initially be considered ‘an act of obedience,’ may one day become instinctive to us. When that happens, we will have truly conformed to His likeness.
I recalled the moment when Jesus challenged Peter three times, “Do you love Me?” Jesus confronts us with a conditional statement, “If you love Me, obey My commands.” Could He be challenging us in the same way He challenged Peter? “Do you love Me? Will you follow My commands?” I have come to realize that following Jesus and obeying Him are inseparable realities. Including the brackets [ ] in the book’s title seemed to emphasize this truth more clearly.

I have read many devotionals over the past 47 years including the Classics by Oswald Chambers and A W Tower as well ans many others. I thoroughly enjoyed reading David Harrison’s “IF YOU LOVE ME” based on our Lord’s 49 commandments.
It is well written, encouraging and most of all challenging.
As a biblical Counsellor I encourage my clients to ask the question “ is JESUS enough “to see me through life’s challenges and traumatic events that all of us experience in various degrees. When life seems overwhelming and heartbreaking, is JESUS enough to follow HIS COMMANDS?
I will now challenge myself and others by asking …do I love my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ enough to obey HIS commands even if it is heart wrenchingly difficult?
If you want to be reignited in your faith journey I highly recommend this book using it as a resource to start a conversation with others and to spend time reflecting if you love HIM enough…

If you’re like me, you read reviews before you buy something. This book only had 1 review when I bought it, and it’s independently published–two reasons that could potentially cause a prospective buyer to pause.
This is not your typical “devotional” with a sliver of scripture at the top and 2 short paragraphs of motivational text; this book delivers solid from-the-Bible evidence. No fluff. Real stuff.
Harrison places Jesus’ command as the title followed by the scripture. Then he talks about it. Then he includes more scripture from throughout the Bible that supports Jesus’ teaching, because we know Jesus is throughout the Bible, not just the NT.
Each one is approximately 2 pages, and only takes about 5 minutes to read (unless you’re like me, and like to ruminate and look up verses in your Bible). Then there’s empty space for you to write notes or a prayer or whatever you feel called to write.
I hope more people find this book and read it. I highly recommend.
